§ 01 · What causes it

The why.

Hormonal shifts, genetics, and barrier dysfunction all contribute to active acne. Scarring forms when acne damages deeper collagen structures during active inflammation, atrophic (indented) scars are the most common aftermath.

§ 01 · How we think about it

The how.

For active acne: medical-grade ZO complexion regimens and gentle salicylic peels. For atrophic scars: microneedling with PRF is our gold-standard remodeling tool. 3–6 sessions, patient but real.

Typical plan

Active acne: 2–3 months to stabilize with a regimen. Scarring: 3–6 microneedling sessions over 6 months, with gradual remodeling continuing through month 12.

Active acne stabilises in 2–3 months on a consistent regimen. Atrophic scarring needs 3–6 microneedling sessions, with gradual remodeling continuing through month 12. We add PRF on the same day as microneedling to accelerate results by an additional 20–30 percent in our experience.

No. Atrophic acne scars respond well to microneedling even if they're years old, because we're stimulating new collagen production. Ice-pick scars are harder, but often still improvable.
For severe, cystic, or treatment-resistant acne, yes. We handle mild-to-moderate acne and scarring. Your family doctor or a dermatologist manages systemic medications (isotretinoin, hormonal).
Sometimes, on a first visit with congested skin. This is temporary purging, not new acne. We'd pre-treat with a gentler peel or ZO regimen if we're worried.
