§ 02 · The Essentials

What microneedling treats.

Microneedling addresses:

  • Texture + pores (enlarged pores, rough skin, uneven tone)
  • Acne scarring (atrophic (indented) scars respond particularly well)
  • Fine lines (around the eyes, mouth, forehead)
  • Stretch marks (arms, abdomen, legs)
  • Overall skin quality (collagen boost, baseline improvement)
§ 02 · How it works

How it works.

The DP4 Dermapen uses 16 sterile micro-needles in a single-use cartridge to create precise, controlled micro-channels in your skin. Your body responds to these tiny injuries by producing new collagen and elastin, the same biological response to any wound, just channeled precisely. The result is thicker, smoother, more uniform skin.

Because the channels are micro-scale and self-close quickly, there's minimal downtime compared to ablative lasers. We can also use these channels to deliver PRF or targeted serums deeper than topical application alone. The most common pairing is microneedling + PRF on the same day.

What it won't do

Microneedling doesn't tighten significant laxity, Morpheus8 (which adds RF) does that. It's also not the fastest tool for pigmentation, Lumecca beats it for color concerns. It's best for texture, scarring, and overall skin quality.

Good fit

This is likely for you if…

  • You have textural concerns, pores, scars, fine lines
  • You have atrophic (indented) acne scarring
  • You want to improve overall skin quality and collagen
  • You've avoided isotretinoin for 6+ months
  • You can tolerate 1–3 days of visible redness per session
Not a fit

This is not for you if…

  • You're pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have active acne in the treatment area
  • You have a history of keloid scarring
  • You've been on isotretinoin in the last 6 months
  • You're on immunosuppressive medications or blood thinners

Day ofThe appointment

Numbing cream for 30 min, then 20-minute treatment. You'll have pinpoint bleeding and redness during, this is normal. Finish with a calming serum (often PRF or peptides). No makeup 24 hrs.

ii.

Days 1–3Recovery

Redness fades from day 1 (sunburn-like) through day 3 (pink flush). Day 2 may feel tight and dry. Gentle cleanser, heavy moisturizer, strict SPF 50. Return to work day 2–3 with mineral makeup if needed.

iii.

Weeks 4–8Collagen remodeling

Glow at 2 weeks. Textural improvement visible at 4–6 weeks. Acne scarring continues to improve over 3–6 months as collagen fills the indentations.

3 for general skin quality improvement, 6 for significant acne scarring or deep textural work. Spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
With topical numbing, most clients describe it as a mild vibration and tingling. Forehead and nose are more sensitive. Without numbing, it stings, we always numb.
For acne scarring, yes, it accelerates healing and boosts collagen response. For general skin quality, it's a nice addition but optional. We'll discuss at your consult.
Medical microneedling uses sterile cartridges at precise depths (0.5–2.5mm), penetrating the dermis where collagen lives. Home rollers stay in the epidermis, minimal effect, high infection risk if not sterilized properly.
No, this is a 'reward later' treatment. Day 1 is red, day 2–3 is flushed, week 2 is glow, week 4–6 is when real change shows up. Commit to the full course before evaluating.
Usually we alternate rather than stack. Morpheus8 is deeper microneedling with RF added, we do a Morpheus8 course for laxity and texture, then Dp4 microneedling for maintenance and lighter work.
