§ 02 · The Essentials

What laser treats.

Laser hair removal works on:

– Face (upper lip, chin, sideburns, cheeks, neck)
– Body (underarms, bikini (standard or Brazilian), legs, abdomen)
– Back + chest (men's backs, shoulders, chest)
– Arms (full arm or half arm)
– Specific areas (happy trail, sideburns, knuckles)

§ 02 · How it works

How it works.

Diode lasers target the melanin in the hair follicle, heating and destroying it without damaging the surrounding skin. Only actively-growing follicles (the anagen phase) respond, which is why multiple sessions are required, to catch each follicle in its growth phase.

DiolazeXL is one of the fastest diode systems on the market, with a large spot size and integrated cooling that keeps skin comfortable. It's FDA-cleared for all skin types, including Fitzpatrick VI, many older lasers aren't.

What it won't do

Laser doesn't work on white, grey, blonde, or very fine hair, there's no melanin to target. For those hair types, electrolysis is the alternative. Laser also doesn't remove vellus (peach fuzz).

Your hair is white, grey, blonde, red, or very fine, laser won't target it
You're pregnant, we wait until after delivery
You've been tanning or had significant sun exposure in the last 2 weeks
You have a history of keloids or active skin infection at the treatment site
You're on isotretinoin (Accutane), wait 6 months after stopping

Day ofThe appointment

Shave the area before arriving (not wax or pluck). Cold contact cooling during treatment, feels like a warm rubber band snap. Small areas 5–10 min, large areas up to 45 min. Mild redness for a few hours.

Days 1–14Hair shedding

Treated hairs begin to shed in 7–14 days, this is normal and expected. You may notice 'regrowth' that's actually hairs pushing out before they fall. Exfoliating gently helps.

Weeks 4–8Next session

Hair regrowth you see between sessions is from follicles that were dormant during the previous treatment. Each session catches a different percentage, why 6–8 sessions are needed for permanent reduction.

The industry term is 'permanent hair reduction', meaning a significant, long-term reduction in hair density and thickness. Most clients see 85–95% reduction and need only occasional maintenance sessions annually.

Typically 6–8 sessions. Face may need more (hormonal hair). Bikini and legs average 6. Men's backs often 8. Darker, coarser hair responds faster than fine hair.

Mild. DiolazeXL has built-in cooling that keeps it comfortable. Sensitive areas (upper lip, bikini) can sting briefly. We can pause if needed.

Yes, if you're strict about sun avoidance on the treatment area for 2 weeks before and after. Tanned skin is riskier, we may reschedule if you've had recent sun.

Shave the area 24 hours before your appointment. Do NOT wax, pluck, or use depilatory creams, those remove the hair root the laser needs to target.

Yes. DiolazeXL is FDA-cleared for all Fitzpatrick types including VI. Older Alexandrite lasers aren't safe for dark skin, diode is.
