What fat treats.

Fat dissolving works for:

– Submental fat (double chin area, the most common and most predictable application)
– Jowl line (small pockets along the jawline)
– Bra fat / flanks (the pocket above or beside the bra band)
– Knee area (small fat pads on the inner knee)
– Small lower abdomen pockets (below the belly button)

§ 02 · How it works

How it works.

Deoxycholic acid is a synthetic version of a bile acid your body already uses to dissolve dietary fat. When injected directly into fat cells, it ruptures them, and the fat is then cleared by your lymphatic system over 4–8 weeks. The destroyed fat cells don't come back.

Results are permanent in the sense that treated fat cells are gone. However, the fat cells that remain can still grow with weight gain, so stable weight is important for lasting results.

What it won't do

This is not a weight-loss treatment and not a replacement for liposuction for large areas. It's ideal for small, specific pockets of stubborn fat, not broad body contouring. If you're looking for significant reshaping, we'd refer you for liposuction or Morpheus8 Body.

Day ofThe appointment

Photos taken for your file. Area numbed topically. Multiple small injections into the fat, the whole session takes 15–30 min. You'll leave with marked swelling (this is expected).

Days 1–14Significant swelling

Plan for this. Swelling peaks at day 2–4 and often looks worse before it looks better. Ice, compression (if appropriate for the area), and patience. Most clients take a few days of low-visibility and feel ready to return to normal life at day 5–7.

Weeks 4–8Fat clearance

Your lymphatic system clears the destroyed fat over 4–8 weeks. Real contour change visible by week 6. We schedule the next session at 6–8 weeks if needed.

In a treated area, expect 15–25% fat reduction per session. Submental typically takes 2–3 sessions; bra fat often 3–4.

It's significant, especially under the chin. Day 2–4 is the peak, and it often looks alarming. Most clients take 3–5 days of low-visibility. Plan around it.

Injections sting briefly. Afterwards, the area can feel sore, tight, and numb for 3–5 days. Ice helps significantly.

Treated fat cells are gone, yes, permanent. But remaining fat cells can still grow if you gain weight. Stable weight = lasting results.

For small, very localized pockets, yes. For broader areas, you'd need more sessions and cost-per-inch is higher than with other tools. We'd discuss at consult whether it's the right fit.

CoolSculpting freezes fat externally. Fat dissolving injects deoxycholic acid directly. Injections are more precise for small pockets; CoolSculpting is better for larger surfaces but takes longer to show results. We offer injections, not cryolipolysis.
