§ 02 · The Essentials

What prp treats.

PRP and PRF are used for:

  • Skin rejuvenation (overall tone, texture, and luminosity, especially face, neck, décolletage)
  • Under-eye area (darkness and hollowing where fillers aren't appropriate)
  • Hair restoration (early thinning, post-partum shedding, androgenic alopecia)
  • Acne scarring (often combined with microneedling for deeper results)
  • Post-treatment healing (accelerates recovery after Morpheus8 or deep peels)
§ 02 · How it works

How it works.

We draw a small tube of your blood and spin it in the Arthrex PRP system, separating plasma rich in growth factors from the rest. For PRF (fibrin), we use a different spin protocol that yields a slower-release matrix. The result is injected or micro-channeled into the treatment area.

The growth factors (PDGF, VEGF, TGF-β) your own body produces signal tissue repair, prompting collagen production, angiogenesis, and healing. Because it's your own blood, there's no rejection risk and no foreign substances involved.

What it won't do

PRP is not a filler, it won't instantly plump hollows or add volume. Its work is biological, gradual, and compounds over sessions. For immediate volume, we combine with HA fillers; for tightening, with Morpheus8.

Good fit

This is likely for you if…

  • You want to improve skin quality without synthetic products
  • You have early hair thinning or diffuse shedding
  • You're healing post-treatment and want faster recovery
  • You have realistic expectations (this is gradual, not instant)
  • You're generally healthy with no blood disorders
Not a fit

This is not for you if…

  • You have a platelet disorder, blood cancer, or are on chemotherapy
  • You're on systemic anticoagulants (warfarin, DOACs), we'd need a pause plan
  • You're pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have an active skin infection in the treatment area
  • You've had significant recent blood loss or are anemic

Day ofThe appointment

Quick blood draw (one small tube), centrifuge processing (10–15 min), then injection or micro-channel delivery. You'll have mild redness and occasional pinpoint bleeding at the sites. Plan for 45 minutes total.

ii.

First 48 hoursRecovery

Mild bruising possible at injection points (especially under-eyes). Avoid NSAIDs for 48 hrs, they inhibit the platelets you just used. Avoid alcohol 24 hrs. Some swelling around eyes is normal for 1–2 days.

Weeks 4–12Results emerge

Blood draw is a standard venipuncture. Facial injections sting briefly; under-eye work we always numb first. Scalp injections can feel more prominent, we use ice and short breaks.
Skin: 4–6 weeks for first visible change, builds over 3 months. Hair: 3–6 months for regrowth, which is normal biology, hair cycles slowly.
PRP is platelet-rich plasma, a liquid. PRF is platelet-rich fibrin, a slower-release gel matrix. PRF can be more effective for under-eyes and longer tissue signaling; PRP works well for scalp and broad skin areas. We'll choose based on your concern.
Usually 3 sessions 4–6 weeks apart. Hair protocols often need 3–4, plus maintenance every 6 months. We never over-schedule, if you're not responding after 2 sessions, we re-evaluate.
PRP uses your own blood, so there's no foreign-substance risk. The Arthrex system is a closed-loop processor designed for medical-grade safety. Major side effects are rare, most are temporary bruising or swelling.
Yes, and it's often ideal. We can apply topical PRF after microneedling for deeper absorption and faster healing. Combined sessions don't cost much more than single-treatment visits.
